Layout of Exhibition Space

After the majority of the course had voted on the floorplan layout for the upcoming exhibition; it was clear that some students were not happy with the positioning of some of the boards that could potentially hinder works that were hung with the pillars within the space obstructing certain panels.

After deliberation and discussions, the layout was finalised and the University was not committed to rearrange the layout to avoid the obstructing pillars.

Above was the chosen layout from the University handout we as students were given, we had to decide on four layout variations that maximised the foyer space. The layouts were not sufficient enough in detail and no explanation as to where these would actually go, ignoring any potentially obstructions with a lack of care towards the upcoming exhibition. (That last comment is my personal opinion and how I felt it came across, with the University expecting always so much and then to give these diagrams in a handout?).

Once finalised we were given instructions on the space that our work would occupy, with initially being told we were only allowed one image per student. Each space was roughly just over one metre by one metre in space (which changed in the week prior to the launch of the private viewing with some students wanting to exhibit their work in a particular way). With myself; in the end exhibiting 7 images; one landscape image at 12x8" and six portraits at around 7x5". I did have plans to exhibit in two other ways, with one being a small installation that was quickly put down by the lecturers and University (again no surprise, you would have thought we were on a creative course? Oh wait?).

Below is one of the ways I wanted to exhibit my work;

The reason for the black background was, my intentions were to paint my panel / space black or use an old blackboard to hang up and display my images up on that with the names of those featuring in the portraits as you would see in the changing rooms of the football clubs they represent.
