In September 2018 I came across an open exhibition that Photograd were running which was part of the Photomonth East London Photography Festival. Photograd tend to work with and exhibit recent graduates from Universities all across the UK but despite this I threw my name into the hat with an image from my second year individual practice project; 'The Separation of Truth'.
On October 15th 2018 I received an email announcing that I had been selected as one of the 30 photographers to showcase my work at the London Met University. Initially I submitted two images to be exhibited and both were selected at a price of £40.00 for the two images. The requirements for the two images were as follows:
1) Please could you send your images over saved to 20" on the longest side
2) 300dpi
3) Colour Profile: RGB
4) PSD File - In case I need to make any slight colour adjustments when printing
The exhibition was being held at London Met University, Calcutta House with a private viewing held on the Thursday 15th November 2018 for all the exhibitors and their guests to come along to see the work showcased.
It was an amazing opportunity to be surrounded by like minded individuals within the photography and art industry and see the other artists work; how they had presented them via the curation of CassPhoto and the students at the University itself. It was really useful to see the competition and the graduate work that was on display, with a variation of works from zines and books, huge individual prints, and a variety of layouts.
Connecting and making contacts with the other artists that had work on display was motivational and speaking about how they have found life after University was insightful. The books on display were of high quality through the materials used, the binding and the layout choices, a real diverse collection and some useful tips noted for any future plans with my final degree project.
